Meeting Summary

2006 Meeting Overview:

This two-day conference held October 16-17, 2006 in Seattle, Washington provided an important opportunity for clinicians and providers to interact with the developers of empirically supported treatments in awareness-raising workshops focused on treatment implementation.

The meeting included a plenary presentation each morning (delivered by Drs. Nora Volkow and A. Thomas McLellan, respectively). The event also incorporated an afternoon presentation by Dr. Mary Jeanne Kreek regarding the genetics of addiction, and the Eileen Pencer Memorial Lecture, delivered by Ms. Jeanne Obert of the Matrix Institute. A total of 24 breakout sessions were conducted as well.

This activity was planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Institutes of Health/Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (NIH/FAES), The University of Washington, and Oregon Health & Science University.
