Meeting Summary
2010 Meeting Overview:
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) hosted its 8th Blending Conference in partnership with the University of New Mexico, the University of Arizona, and the University of California, San Francisco on April 22-23, 2010, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Blending Addiction Science and Practice: Evidence-Based Treatment and Prevention in Diverse Populations and Settings Meeting provided an opportunity to promote communication among researchers, treatment providers, and policy makers, while also delivering pioneering research findings to the field.
The two-day conference consisted of four plenary talks and the Eileen Pencer Memorial Lecture by Dr. William Miller. There were also 25 afternoon breakout sessions led by top experts in the field.
Attendance:
Over 1300 attendees registered for this meeting. Attendees expressed excitement and gratitude about experiencing NIDA's Blending Conference and written feedback documented that 77% of participants intend to subsequently change their practice as a result of attending this Blending Conference. Eighty-one percent said that the program enhanced their professional effectiveness.
