One study examined the effectiveness of specific policies that limit teen access to tobacco products (for example, ID requirements, vending machine restrictions, repackaging restrictions) on smoking in adulthood. The other study explored the effectiveness of a community-based intervention program (PROSPER) in reducing substance abuse in teens up to 6½ years later. For a copy of the study abstract (published online Dec 28), go to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23276777.
