NIDA Director Dr. Nora Volkow will participate in a LIVE Facebook chat, hosted by TEDMED, on Thursday, February 12, at 1 p.m. EST to discuss what we can learn about compulsive overeating from studying the brain chemistry of people with drug addictions.
This past September, Dr. Volkow was a featured speaker at TEDMED, the annual multi-disciplinary gathering where leaders from all sectors of society come together to explore the promise of technology and potential of human achievement in health and medicine. Her presentation, “Why do our brains get addicted?” discussed the obesity epidemic and the parallels between compulsive overeating and drug addiction.
The Facebook chat can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/events/982256358468783/
Participants are encouraged to RSVP, invite others to join, and tweet questions in advance by using #TEDMED.
