Where to Get Information About Applying for NIDA Grants

Information About NIDA Research Priorities and Grant Programs

  • NIDA Home Page: Click on Funding Information, then click on the appropriate highlighted word or phrase for:
    • Types of grants available from NIDA.
    • Recent NIDA program announcements (PAs), which solicit grant applications for NIDA's long-term research programs, and requests for applications (RFAs), which offer one-time grants for specific research programs. Includes names and phone numbers of NIDA program staff to contact to
    • discuss research ideas.
    • Training and fellowship grants, career development awards, and NIDA-funded research training sites.
    • Computer-aided grant writing with Morpheus. Morpheus is a new computerized, program to assist researchers in grant application development. Instructions are included for downloading the program.
  • NIDA Program Staff
    • Information and assistance on programmatic and scientific issues when completing a grant application. Appropriate staff are listed on the PAs and RFAs.

The NIH grant application kit (Form PHS 398) contains instructions and forms needed to complete the application including deadlines and guidelines. The kit is available through:

These programs support the academic and career development of researchers and students interested in drug abuse research who are members of population groups such as racial and ethnic minorities that are underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.
